# Mourinho won over by forward as new Man United contract edges closer

**Though, as ever, the Manchester United fans propping up the bar in the Transfer Tavern are chanting Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s name as he continues to impress, some interesting reports have come out from [the Sun](https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/2687790/manchester-united-transfer-news-marcus-rashford-set-for-pay-rise-as-jose-mourinho-looks-to-tie-him-to-club-until-2021/) today.**

While the Swedish superstar striker is clearly the main man at Old Trafford right now, our United-mad punters have been waxing poetic about a certain Marcus Rashford. The England international has had to take a backseat to the 35-year-old of late, though [recent reports](https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/2687790/manchester-united-transfer-news-marcus-rashford-set-for-pay-rise-as-jose-mourinho-looks-to-tie-him-to-club-until-2021/) have had the fans in the bar in good spirits.

They [claim](https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/2687790/manchester-united-transfer-news-marcus-rashford-set-for-pay-rise-as-jose-mourinho-looks-to-tie-him-to-club-until-2021/) the 19-year-old is set for a new contract at the Theatre of Dreams as Jose Mourinho attempts to keep the England international at the club until 2021. He’s [said](https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/2687790/manchester-united-transfer-news-marcus-rashford-set-for-pay-rise-as-jose-mourinho-looks-to-tie-him-to-club-until-2021/) to have won over the Portuguese with his fleeting performances in the first-team, as well as training.

He only penned a new deal at Old Trafford, where he burst onto the scene little under a year ago in the summer, in the summer, though is [believed](https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/2687790/manchester-united-transfer-news-marcus-rashford-set-for-pay-rise-as-jose-mourinho-looks-to-tie-him-to-club-until-2021/) to be in line for bumper fresh terms.

As you can imagine, this has gone down very well with the Man United supporters in the Tavern, who view Rashford as the future.
