# Liverpool: Fans want to sign Tanguy Ndombele

**Liverpool’s midfield is arguably the one position of the pitch where a new player could well fit into their side.**

Jordan Henderson, of course, as the club’s captain, has been in impressive form this term, and has even been [tipped to win the Player of the Year award](https://talksport.com/football/658561/liverpool-jordan-henderson-player-of-the-year-durham-bent/), but beyond him there are plenty of questions. Fabinho looked brilliant before he picked up an [injury](https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/50602184) against Napoli – Gary Neville even called him [the best defensive midfielder in the world](https://metro.co.uk/2019/09/17/gary-neville-names-fabinho-premier-leagues-best-defensive-midfielder-10756617/) (Sky Sports via Metro) at the start of the campaign – but he has [failed](https://www.liverpool.com/liverpool-fc-news/features/liverpool-jurgen-klopp-fabinho-cup-17857743) to recapture his form since coming back into the fold. Georginio Wijnaldum’s future is [uncertain](https://theathletic.com/1506303/2020/01/06/ornstein-on-monday-city-eye-matvyenko-and-skriniar-with-winks-an-option-for-both-manchester-clubs-var-will-not-be-scaled-back/?source=shared-article), whilst Naby Keita [cannot stay fit enough](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/naby-keita/verletzungen/spieler/302215) to make a real impact.

As such, a new player for the middle of the park could be required by Jurgen Klopp, and [according to Foot Mercato](https://www.footmercato.net/a4127638236437034140-exclu-fm-liverpool-songe-a-se-faire-preter-tanguy-ndombele), that man could be Tanguy Ndombele. The 23-year-old Frenchman signed for Spurs for [£53.8m](https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/48841318) last summer, but he has struggled to adapt to the Premier League – Jose Mourinho has even [criticised](https://www.goal.com/en/news/mourinhos-scathing-assessment-of-spurs-star-ndombele/r3rjkmae4dy41e6wo0wqkwrlm) Spurs’ record signing publicly.

Still, that doesn’t appear to have prevented Klopp from taking an interest in regards to a loan deal – and it seems the supporters would back a move for him with one even describing him as a “dream addition.”
