# Southampton: Approach made for Neco Williams

**[Southampton](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/southampton-fc-news/) have ‘approached’ Liverpool over right-back Neco Williams, according to a live TV report from Sky Sports News.**

### **The Lowdown: Livramento’s injury**

After joining the south-coast club for [£5m last summer](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2021/aug/02/southampton-poised-to-sign-chelsea-tino-livramento-for-5m), Tino Livramento went on to establish himself as a key player for Saints, making [27 appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/tino-livramento/leistungsdaten/spieler/503981) in the [Premier League](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league-news/).

During live-on-air TV report, Sky Sports News revealed an approach for the Wales international.

### **The Verdict: Good signing?**

Having impressed whilst on loan at Championship winners Fulham, with an average match rating of 7.26 (via [WhoScored](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/170/Show/England-Fulham)), the 21-year-old has received vast interest from a number of Premier League sides over a permanent transfer ahead of next season.

Following the arrival of talented youngster [Calvin Ramsay](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/61857066) at Anfield, the Reds have no reason not to let Williams depart, which certainly opens the door for Saints to make a promising signing.
