# Newcastle United: Alan Nixon reveals Magpies want to sell Celtic target Freddie Woodman

**Alan Nixon has revealed that Newcastle United want to sell Freddie Woodman in the summer transfer window.**

The Sun journalist was replying to a fan who asked whether there was any news on Woodman possibly going to Swansea City, and [Nixon replied on his Twitter page](https://twitter.com/reluctantnicko/status/1290979289861586944?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1290979289861586944%7Ctwgr%5E&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.walesonline.co.uk%2Fsport%2Ffootball%2Ftransfer-news%2Fwest-brom-cardiff-swansea-derby-18719649) that a deal is possible and that the Tyneside club wanted to sell him.

Indeed, the 23-year old has been [previously linked with a transfer move to Neil Lennon’s Celtic](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/newcastle-united-transfer-rumours/newcastle-united-freddie-woodman-linked-with-celtic-as-neil-lennon-speaks-out-about-replacing-fraser-forster/), as he was rather impressive in his loan spell with the Swans in the Championship in the 2019/20 season. Woodman played in 43 of the games in England’s second tier, keeping a relatively impressive 12 clean sheets and conceding 50 goals, according to [Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/freddie-woodman/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/226049/plus/0?saison=2019&verein=&liga=&wettbewerb=&pos=&trainer_id=).

However, his time at St. James’ Park has been rather limited, playing in just four senior matches for them in the FA Cup, as per [Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/freddie-woodman/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/226049/plus/0?saison=&verein=762&liga=&wettbewerb=&pos=&trainer_id=).

In addition, the Magpies already have [Martin Dubravka, Karl Darlow and Mark Gillespie as goalkeeping position](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/newcastle-united/kadernachposition/verein/762), so perhaps it is a wise idea to let Woodman go on a permanent deal so that he can get more regular first-team football elsewhere.

Nevertheless, it looks as if the Toon are trying to get Woodman off of their books, and so Newcastle will surely be looking for a decent transfer fee to let the Englishman go.
