# Newcastle: Christian Eriksen considering Magpies contract offer

**Soon-to-be free agent Christian Eriksen is considering a number of [Premier League](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league-news/) contract offers, including one from [Newcastle United](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/newcastle-united-news/), reports [The Times](https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/manchester-united-manager-erik-ten-hag-digging-in-to-land-70m-frenkie-de-jong-8k50q2mlv) (via [NUFC360](https://twitter.com/NUFC360/status/1541167879978106880)).**

### **The Lowdown: Eriksen’s return to football**

Brentford signed the Denmark international in January on a short-term deal until the end of the season after Serie A medical rules forced Inter Milan to terminate his contract in December (via [The Athletic](https://theathletic.com/news/brentford-sign-christian-eriksen-on-six-month-contract/arHUQDXFoNt5/)).

However, the midfielder’s contract with the Bees is set to expire in the next few days, leaving the 30-year-old able to move elsewhere on a free transfer.

As a result, a number of Premier League clubs have joined the queue to secure the Dane’s signature ahead of next season.

### **The Latest: Newcastle’s offer**

According to a report by [The Times](https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/manchester-united-manager-erik-ten-hag-digging-in-to-land-70m-frenkie-de-jong-8k50q2mlv), as shared by Magpies Twitter channel [NUFC360](https://twitter.com/NUFC360/status/1541167879978106880), Eriksen is considering contract offers from a number of clubs, including Newcastle, Everton and Leicester.

As previously reported by football.london’s [Alasdair Gold](https://www.football.london/tottenham-hotspur-fc/transfer-news/tottenham-christian-eriksen-transfer-conte-24271001), Tottenham, Manchester United, West Ham and Brentford are the other English sides to have offered the former Inter Milan playmaker a contract.

### **The Verdict: Great signing**

Hailed by Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp as [‘exceptional’](https://www.teamtalk.com/tottenham-hotspur/jamie-redknapp-hails-spurs-target-christian-eriksen-magician-playing-better-than-ever) for his performance for Brentford against former club Spurs in April, Eriksen has a wealth of experience in the Premier League, having totalled [237 appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/christian-eriksen/leistungsdaten/spieler/69633) in the English top flight.

He has made his mark at that level, too, scoring [52 times](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/christian-eriksen/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/69633/wettbewerb/GB1) and setting up another [71 goals](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/christian-eriksen/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/69633/wettbewerb/GB1).

Therefore, with such quality available on a free transfer, this would be a tremendous addition to Eddie Howe’s squad.
