# Newcastle United: Magpies take gamble over contract offer for Florent Indalecio

**Newcastle United have offered a chance for [Allan-Saint Maximin](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/newcastle-united-news/newcastle-united-darren-bent-offers-confident-message-over-allan-saint-maximins-future/)‘s friend Florent Indalecio to continue to impress with the Magpies youth setup** **after [agreeing a deal](https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/florent-indalecio-newcastle-united-terms-19146950) with the striker until the end of the campaign.**

Indalecio arrived at Newcastle on a [trial basis](https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/florent-indalecio-newcastle-united-terms-19146950) earlier in the summer looking to make an impression with the club’s youth sides. The forward had been without a club after a spell in Australia came to an end and had been looking to reignite his career after a rocky start.

### **Allan Saint-Maximin plays key role in Indalecio transfer decision**

One player who has been instrumental in the Magpies agreeing to extend the 23-year-old’s deal until May has been Saint-Maximin. The dynamic winger has been living with Indalecio and the pair have formed a bond in recent weeks ahead of his initial trial period coming to an end, per [Chronicle Live](https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/florent-indalecio-newcastle-united-terms-19146950).

Indalecio is a player who arrived at Newcastle with a past for being something of a maverick. The forward was kicked out of Saint-Etienne after the Ligue 1 club decided he was too much of a disruptive presence. That led to the 23-year-old spending time in the fifth tier of French football before moving to Australia, per [Chronicle Live](https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/florent-indalecio-newcastle-united-terms-19146950).

Saint-Maximin himself arrived at St James’ Park with a bit of a ‘bad boy’ reputation, having been expelled from the famous Clairefontaine academy in France earlier in his career, per the [Daily Mail.](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-8484953/Diamond-rough-Allan-Saint-Maximin-Newcastle-United-winger-whos-talk-Toon.html) However, ever since moving to Newcastle, the forward has [been a revelation](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/newcastle-united-news/allan-saint-maximin-new-deal-keith-downie/) and was fully deserving of his [recent contract extension](https://www.nufc.co.uk/news/latest-news/allan-saint-maximin-signs-new-deal-to-stay-at-newcastle-united-until-2026/).

### **Allan Saint-Maximin needs Indalecio gamble to pay off**

Saint-Maximin has [made his mark on many occasions](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/allan-saint-maximin/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/272642/verein/762) in his time at Newcastle but the Frenchman will need Indalecio to knuckle down and prove worthy of the faith he has shown in him. The striker has been handed a second chance to impress in a top European league, so now he must show he can display the right attitude and commitment for the club’s under-23 side.

Indalecio clearly has talent to have been involved at Ligue 1 side Saint-Etienne in the first place and to have impressed Saint-Maximin. He now needs to show that, like the winger, he too can put previous off-field problems behind him and take his career to a new level with the Magpies.
