# Newcastle eye another Frenchman

![](https://cdn.footballtransfertavern.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/haidara0_w900_h464_r3_q75-9-150x150.jpeg)Newcastle United just can’t seem to keep their name out of the headlines here at the Football Transfer Tavern, and Miles Starforth from regional paper [The Shields Gazette](https://www.shieldsgazette.com/sport/football/newcastle-united/newcastle-united-target-french-ace-1-5317140) reckons Alan Pardew has his sights set on another Frenchman.

Sources in France suggest the Magpies have launched a bid for promising defender Massadio Haidara of Nancy.

The 20-year-old left back has previously been linked with a move to the Premier League, with Tottenham reportedly the team showing interest.

Pardew has move quickly to bring the player to St. James’ Park, having seemingly lost out on long-term transfer target Loic Remy to QPR.

The Newcastle fans are desperate for something to cheer having endured a tough season on and off the pitch so far.

The capture of the French Under-21 international would be a start, and he is likely to come at a reasonable price having only 18 months left to run on his current deal.
