# Newcastle United: Fans drool over Odsonne Edouard transfer news

**Lots of Newcastle United fans have been purring over transfer reports from the Scottish Mail (via** [NUFC 360](https://twitter.com/NUFC360/status/1262329798547865600)**) claiming that Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard views the Tyneside club as an ‘attractive next step’ in his career.**

Indeed, the 22-year old is enjoying yet another fine season in the Scottish Premiership, as he has scored 21 goals and provided 12 assists in 27 appearances so far, according to [Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/odsonne-edouard/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/344152/wettbewerb/SC1/saison/2019).

However, his latest comments may suggest that he would like to move away from the league in order to continue his development as a footballer and a transfer to the Premier League would arguably be a big step up.

The would-be owners in the northeast may be looking for a statement signing in order to kick-start the new era and Edouard could well fit the bill. However, he is likely to cost a pretty penny, being arguably the Hoops’ biggest asset, but the Saudi-led consortium would likely have the funding needed to prise the Frenchman away from the Scottish champions.
