# Newcastle: Fans on Twitter far from happy as Bruce gives his verdict on Longstaff

**Newcastle fans have had very little to cheer about so far this season, even if we are only two games into it. A 1-0 home loss to Newcastle followed by a 3-1 away loss at Norwich has given the Magpies a poor start, and it could be set to get worse with Tottenham up next.**

> Newcastle United head coach Steve Bruce says he's been impressed by midfielder Sean Longstaff as the youngster looks to force his way back into the Magpies' starting line-up. [#NUFC](https://twitter.com/hashtag/NUFC?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw)[https://t.co/L7U4oR6mhN](https://t.co/L7U4oR6mhN)

Last weekend against Norwich, Bruce opted to leave Sean Longstaff on the bench, and ahead of this week’s game against Tottenham at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Bruce has claimed that he’s been impressed by Longstaff as the player looks to force his way back into the starting eleven.

That’s something that the fans below don’t believe that Longstaff should have to do though. The Geordies, as you will see below, want Longstaff used in a two-man midfield and some of them even believe the youngster is their best option in the middle of the park, further lowering their estimations of Steve Bruce.

You can read the Magpies’ thoughts on Bruce’s Longstaff comments here:

> It’s got to be 2 in midfield and I would play Hayden and Longstaff

> How can our best CM be looking to force his way into the team. I really wanted Bruce to do a good job, but everything that comes out of his mouth is just ill thought. These Magpies all want to see Longstaff start against Tottenham and, hopefully, Bruce will see sense and use him from the off in North London.
