# Newcastle fans take to Twitter to laud Diego Laxalt after rumoured transfer

**Newcastle fans don’t let themselves get excited over transfers anymore. The Magpies have very little hope in signing anyone when the windows open, however, in the early days of the current January window the Geordies have been linked to AC Milan Diego Laxalt by *[CalcioMercato](https://www.calciomercato.com/news/il-newcastle-vuole-laxalt-benitez-prepara-l-offerta-per-il-milan-47968)*, and they’re desperate for it to happen.**

> Newcastle United have begun contact over a move to sign AC Milan left-winger Diego Laxalt, and are preparing an offer for the Uruguay international. Laxalt has struggled since his move to the San Siro, failing to break into the starting eleven of late. \[CalcioMercato\] [#NUFC](https://twitter.com/hashtag/NUFC?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw) [pic.twitter.com/YT4cVk1hpb](https://t.co/YT4cVk1hpb)

The Uruguayan winger was subject of a transfer just six months ago after he made the switch from Genoa to AC Milan after the World Cup. At the age of just 25 and having impressed in Russia, the Rossoneri decided to snap up the left-sided winger who can play as a full-back on either side, but so far Laxalt has struggled to make a mark at the San Siro, and could be allowed to leave this month.

Normally, whenever a player wants to leave a club and the club are also keen to offload them, finding a transfer isn’t too difficult. Unfortunately, this one could include Newcastle as the buying club, which means it could be a very tough one to finalise. The Magpies know that they likely won’t sign anyone, including Laxalt, but they would love to see their club have a go at bringing the 25-year-old to the club, as they all seem to rate him very highly.

The Geordies would love to sign Laxalt in January, but unfortunately, it’s a deal that they all believe just won’t happen.
