# Newcastle United looking to sell “really skilful” forward before end of transfer window

[Newcastle United](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/newcastle-united-transfer-rumours/) have experienced a chaotic summer, with Bruno Guimarães and Sandro Tonali both departing while Eddie Howe’s surprise decision to step down brought further upheaval.

The Magpies have responded by adding their own reinforcements, including Nico González from Manchester City and Bazoumana Touré from Hoffenheim, [with further additions set to follow](https://newcastleunitednews.org/blog/newcastle-united-transfer-news-matias-fernandez-pardo-2/).

But another significant change could now be on the cards before the transfer window closes.

## **Newcastle Want to Sell Woltemade**

Newcastle United are looking to part ways with Nick Woltemade before the transfer deadline, with the club reportedly prepared to move on from their record signing after just one season.

[According to talkSPORT](https://talksport.com/football/4544438/newcastle-nick-woltemade-future-transfer-record-signing/), Newcastle are actively exploring an exit for the Germany international, who arrived from Stuttgart for a club-record £69 million last summer.

Woltemade found life at St James’ Park difficult during his debut campaign, managing eight Premier League goals. He was also left on the bench for the Magpies’ 2-2 draw with Liverpool on the opening weekend, failing to feature.

The arrival of Matthias Jaissle as Newcastle’s new head coach had raised hopes that the 24-year-old might get another opportunity, but the latest developments suggest he may not figure prominently in the German’s plans.

Woltemade’s technical ability has never been in serious question, with German football expert Raphael Honigstein [previously describing him as “really skilful”.](https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/articles/cm2v3n88nepo)

There could already be an escape route available, too, with Napoli among the clubs reportedly monitoring his situation.

After only 12 months on Tyneside, Newcastle now appear ready to make the difficult decision to cut their losses on their record acquisition.
