# Newcastle: Magpies could make audacious Harry Kane swoop

**[Newcastle United](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/newcastle-united-news/) are one of the clubs that could make an audacious move for England captain Harry Kane, according to [transfer expert](https://twitter.com/DeanJonesSoccer) Dean Jones.**

### The Lowdown: Kane a Premier League great

The 29-year-old has arguably become one of the best strikers of his generation, [scoring 261 goals](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/harry-kane/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/132098/verein/148) in 408 appearances for Tottenham, as well as captaining his country.

Kane is now [third](https://www.premierleague.com/stats/all-time) in the all-time [Premier League](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league-news/) scoring charts, with only Alan Shearer and Wayne Rooney ahead of him in the pecking order.

Newcastle have been [linked](https://www.givemesport.com/87981263-newcastle-eye-dream-signings-including-kane-and-226-goal-superstar-exclusive) with a stunning swoop for the striker in 2022 as they look to put their owners’ wealth to good use.

### The Latest: Newcastle could sign Kane

Speaking to [GiveMeSport](https://www.givemesport.com/88090092-newcastle-harry-kane-transfer-rumours), Jones claimed that the Magpies are one of the few teams who could realistically acquire Kane’s signature.

He stated:

> “The other \[Premier League option for Kane\] would be Newcastle, a fast moving project where they’re looking for that superstar to come in as almost the final piece that inspires them on. I guess you’d be almost be viewed like Shearer was when he went there, back when they last chased glory.”

### The Verdict: Would be a game-changer

The idea of Kane making a move to Newcastle is the stuff of dreams, with the Spurs legend offering a guaranteed source of relentless goals and assists in the Premier League.

He has rightly been [described](https://www.eurosport.co.uk/football/premier-league/2021-2022/world-class-tottenham-striker-harry-kane-is-not-normal-says-head-coach-antonio-conte_sto8871868/story.shtml) as ‘world-class’ by Antonio Conte, and as Jones referenced, he could have a Shearer-esque impact at St James’ Park, even though he turns 30 next summer.

However, a move to Newcastle still seems rather unlikely – fitting both him and Alexander Isak into the team may not be easy for Eddie Howe – and Spurs will be absolutely desperate to do all they can to keep him at the club rather than selling to a direct domestic rival.
