Newcastle United have completed a deal to sign Aston Villa star Jacob Ramsey, becoming their fourth new addition of the summer.
The Magpies have been one of the most talked-about clubs in the summer transfer window, and not because they have signed Anthony Elanga, Aaron Ramsdale and Malick Thiaw.
Star striker Alexander Isak has not been seen since the pre-season training camp in Austria and has expressed a desire to leave the club this summer, with Liverpool keen to secure his signature before the transfer window closes.
The Sweden international has left fans feeling blindsided as he approaches the third year of his six-year contract, and even Eddie Howe has expressed bemusement over the ongoing situation when called upon to offer clarity.
Nevertheless, Newcastle have an important campaign ahead with Champions League football on the schedule, and bringing in reinforcements across the squad will be imperative to further their ambitions of success.
It was reported this week that the North East giants were advancing in their move to sign Aston Villa midfielder Jacob Ramsey.
Today, journalist Fabrizio Romano has taken to social media platform X to confirm that a £40m deal has been agreed.
The Italian transfer insider revealed:
“EXCLUSIVE: Jacob Ramsey to Newcastle, here we go!”
“Agreement for £40m fee from Aston Villa. Ramsey agreed on personal terms and travels for medical at #NUFC right now. Ramsey strongly wanted Newcastle and deal now done.”
What can Newcastle expect from Jacob Ramsey?

The Magpies will head to Villa Park for their Premier League season opener against the Villains in the early kick-off this weekend, but it remains unclear as to whether they will be able to register and present their new signing in the clash.
The signing of Ramsey is another great piece of business for the Tynesiders, as he represents the long-term successor to Brazilian titan Joelinton.
The 24-year-old – once hailed a “top talent” by Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard – has a wealth of Premier League experience, amassing 136 appearances, 14 goals and 14 assists in the top flight.
Not only that, Ramsey is incredibly versatile, capable of playing several roles, including on the left wing, which will make him an attractive asset for Howe as he navigates a congested schedule that includes European football.
With that being said, there is no doubt that Ramsey is a ready-made attacking threat who can make a huge impact for Newcastle this season and beyond.
