# Everton: Toffees still ‘in the race’ for Nicolas Jackson

**[Everton](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/everton-fc-news/) are reportedly still ‘in the race’ to sign Villarreal winger Nicolas Jackson.**

### The Lowdown: Summer interest

It was [reported](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/everton-fc-news/everton-premier-league-nicolas-jackson-transfer-news-updates/) back in August that the Goodison Park outfit were interested in signing Jackson, but a move never materialised in the summer transfer window.

In the end, they [failed](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fc-everton/transfers/verein/29) to recruit a right-winger, and with recent links to the likes of Shakhtar Donetsk’s [Mykhalo Mudryk](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/everton-fc-news/leeds-transfer-news-mudryk-newcastle-west-ham/) and Napoli’s [Hirving Lozano](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/everton-fc-news/man-utd-transfer-news-lozano-napoli-bayern-leipzig/), it seems as if they could look to revisit that in January.

### The Latest: Newcastle join race

Taking to Twitter, journalist [Pete O’Rourke](https://twitter.com/SportsPeteO/status/1574734250468843521) has revealed that the Merseyside club are still ‘in the race’ for Jackson, who has a €32m (£28.6m) release clause, but fellow Premier League rivals Newcastle United have now joined them in trying to land his signature:

*“Newcastle have joined Everton in the race to sign Villarreal attacker Nicolas Jackson. Jackson has impressed for Villarreal this season and has a €32m release clause in his contract.”*

### The Verdict: Exciting signing

21-year-old Jackson would certainly be an exciting signing for Frank Lampard’s side, should they be able to pull a deal off.

Since being promoted from Villarreal’s B team, where he managed an impressive seven goals and eight assists in 27 games in total, the six-foot-one attacker has three goal contributions for the Yellow Submarine, including two in La Liga so far this season ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/nicolas-jackson/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/776890)).

His performances recently earned him his [first call-up](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/nicolas-jackson/nationalmannschaft/spieler/776890) to the Senegal national team squad, and he could well earn his first caps in the upcoming FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Nonetheless, Jackson shares the same agent as [four](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/unique-sports-group/beraterfirma/berater/4142) Toffees, and so this should help push a deal in their favour come January.
