# Newcastle United: Allan Saint-Maximin statistic alarms some supporters

**Since losing their first game since late November in a [1-0 defeat to Burnley](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I5D8YHzxNOA&feature=onebox) at Turf Moor on Saturday, supporters have since gasped at a recent statistic surrounding Magpies star winger Allan Saint-Maximin – with the revelation that they haven’t won a single game without the Frenchman starting.**

Chris Wood scored the only goal of the game as Newcastle United fell to their first loss since a [2-0 humbling](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FL6w_ZWSiqI) at Aston Villa, bringing many supporters back down from cloud nine and forcing them to face a potential reality that they have a lack of goalscorers in the forward positions.

In particular, Steve Bruce’s side looked like they missed a great deal of flair – [usually provided by Saint-Maximin](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league/newcastle-united/newcastle-united-fans-compare-hatem-ben-arfa-and-allan-saint-maximin-as-most-exciting-players/) on the right-hand side – but unfortunately, they will be without his services for another few weeks as he recovers [from a hamstring injury.](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/50751016)

Taking that into account, supporters have reacted pessimistically to just how poorly they seem to do without him – here’s what they had to say on Twitter.

> ASM is making Bruce look like a good manager. Cue the excuses from Bruce over the next few weeks.
