# Newcastle United: Allan Saint-Maximin tweet hasn’t gone down well amongst fans

**Since his arrival at Newcastle United over the course of the summer, it’s fair to say Allan Saint-Maximin has emerged as a cult-hero on Tyneside.**

The Gucci headband wearing winger has helped out in the [city’s foodbanks](https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/uk-england-tyne-49465159/newcastle-united-player-allan-saint-maximin-visits-west-end-food-bank#:~:targetText=Newcastle%20United's%20new%20signing%20Allan,making%20donations%20before%20home%20matches.), [sworn](https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/allan-saint-maximin-newcastle-united-17296694) during a live radio interview and [slated](https://tbrfootball.com/newcastle-star-allan-saint-maximin-absolutely-ruins-sunderland-on-twitter/) rivals Sunderland on Twitter during his short time on the club’s books so far, but has so far been unable to register either a goal or an assist.

So given his lack of end product thus far, after the Frenchman retweeted a fan-made video of the player’s highlights during last night’s loss at Aston Villa, a number of fans replied venting their frustration.

> Thank you for your support, we've tried hard but we didn't make it… No excuses, we are going to work even harder to make it at the next games [https://t.co/OWmde3MpcI](https://t.co/OWmde3MpcI)

As per [WhoScored](https://www.whoscored.com/Matches/1376017/LiveStatistics/England-Premier-League-2019-2020-Aston-Villa-Newcastle-United), the former Nice man failed to register a key pass or contribute an accurate cross despite making five dribbles, perhaps summing up his time as a Toon player thus far.

Needless to say, sharing a compilation of his best moments didn’t exactly go down well with those who had just watched their team capitulate against a likely relegation rival, and you can find some unhappy reactions down below…

> At some point, I thought I was watching Alex Iwobi

> We deserve much more from all of you. Some players WALKING around a football pitch. Totally unacceptable.

> Awful performance from the whole team from kick off. It’s not acceptable. Head up, work hard and go and shock Man City like we did last year!
