# Newcastle United: Fans brainstorm over how to sign Hull City midfielder Jarrod Bowen

**According to a [report from the Daily Telegraph](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2020/01/20/newcastle-united-reach-impasse-withhull-fee-jarrod-bowen/), Newcastle United may have reached an impasse in their pursuit of Hull City midfielder Jarrod Bowen – with the club reportedly unwilling to meet their [£20 million](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2020/01/20/newcastle-united-reach-impasse-withhull-fee-jarrod-bowen/) valuation of the player.**

Bowen, who has racked up an impressive tally from midfield this season with [16 goals and six assists](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/322596/History/Jarrod-Bowen) in the Championship, has been at the centre of Newcastle’s interest dating all the way back to last summer ([The Chronicle](https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/newcastle-united-target-jarrod-bowen-16651366)). The Englishman also bagged [22 goals and four assists](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/322596/History/Jarrod-Bowen) last campaign, resulting in the club becoming eager to capture his signature. However, due to Hull’s valuation, the Magpies have now been reportedly turned off – with Steve Bruce’s side only willing to fork out [£12 million](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2020/01/20/newcastle-united-reach-impasse-withhull-fee-jarrod-bowen/) upfront while paying any further money through instalments.

In comparison to current Magpies winger Allan Saint-Maximin, Bowen has failed to match his impressive [4.2](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/135891/Show/Allan-Saint-Maximin) dribble success rate per game but makes up for it in terms of attempted shots – averaging [3.5](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/322596/History/Jarrod-Bowen) compared to Saint-Maximin’s [1.5](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/135891/Show/Allan-Saint-Maximin) as per [WhoScored.com.](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/322596/History/Jarrod-Bowen)

As a result, supporters are eager to land Bowen in a bid to potentially add necessary firepower, taking to Twitter and brainstorming how to navigate the fee – find all of their best comments down below.

> Anyone think it might be worth offering them 8 mill and Gayle? He’ll be fit in a few weeks and good for 6 or 7 goals before the end of the season.

> Why are we worried about the price. It’s not our money and Ashley has bled enough from the club.

> Can we not throw in a Sterry, Murphy or Aarons or even all 3 of these to lower the price? Makes sense to me 🤷‍♂️
