# Newcastle United: Fans dissect why Allan Saint-Maximin is a crucial player ahead of Crystal Palace

**Newcastle United have been without star player Allan Saint-Maximin due to injury for just one game, but after falling [1-0 to Burnley](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I5D8YHzxNOA&feature=onebox) at Turf Moor, Magpies supporters are already missing the Frenchman and crying out for him to return as soon as possible.**

The 22-year-old signed from OGC Nice in a [£16.5 million deal last summer](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/49211377), going on to showcase impressive amounts of[pace and flair](https://www.themag.co.uk/2019/10/stats-show-newcastle-united-star-is-most-prolific-dribbler-in-europe-this-season-allan-saint-maximin/) on the right wing for Newcastle whilst cementing himself as possibly their best acquisition of the season.

However, after he limped off in their last home win against Southampton [with a hamstring problem](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-7790735/Allan-Saint-Maximin-picked-96th-minute-hamstring-injury-clubs-fastest-sprint-ever.html), ruling him out for a month, Magpies supporters have started dissecting why his presence is so crucial to Steve Bruce’s side ahead of a tough home encounter with Crystal Palace.

Responding to a piece [by the Chronicle](https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/allan-saint-maximin-newcastle-united-17439274), fans have had their say on why the Frenchman is such a key figure – and how they could want to see him back sooner rather than later.

Here’s what they had to say.

> He a legitimate threat. Also we need another striker. A real one this time. I like Csrroll but he gets hurt way too much.

> if we could get another pacey dribbler similar to him I would be happy, it always makes teams fearful if someone can run at them with the ball

> Because they have literally nobody else capable of dribbling at pace in his area of the field?

> Because he’s the only person that looks to take on a man and drive the team forward, without him we’re sat in a defence shape terrified to move the ball forward and sit 10 yards too deep

> Because he’s good. And no

> Very simple. Because he’s the only player they’ve got that can dribble past someone
