# Newcastle United: Fans drool over Allan Saint-Maximin performance

**Newcastle United fans have flocked to social media to praise their latest cult hero following a superb performance away to Sheffield United on Thursday night, a match where Allan Saint-Maximin finally opened his account for the Magpies.**

Steve Bruce’s side were under the cosh for a lot of the encounter, with keeper Martin Dubravka constantly forced into [producing sublime saves](https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/newcastle-united-sheffield-united-highlights-17371433) to keep Newcastle in the contest.

However, goals from Saint-Maximin and Jonjo Shelvey managed to seal all three points and ensure the Tynesiders enter a busy festive period in a brilliant position – having won [four out of their last eight games](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/teams/newcastle-united/scores-fixtures) in the Premier League.

The Frenchman, in particular, [drew plenty of plaudits](https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/newcastle-allan-saint-maximin-goal-17372571) after another fine individual performance – latching on to [Javier Manquillo’s](https://twitter.com/primevideosport/status/1202676199799033858) cross and converting his first-ever goal in Newcastle colours.

As a result, supporters have flocked to Twitter and praised the youngster for his brilliant headed finish – here’s what they had to say:
