# Newcastle United: Fans hail DeAndre Yedlin following brilliant goal

**Following a brilliantly [scrappy 2-1 home win](https://www.google.com/search?rlz=1C1DVJR_enGB846GB846&sxsrf=ACYBGNSCc-p6N-bGJdJAdtBXvchCp7eIyQ%3A1573470906340&ei=ukLJXcm-FNPvgAbv14jQBQ&q=newcastle+united&oq=newcastle+united&gs_l=psy-ab.3..35i39i70i253j35i39j0i131i67j0i131l4j0j0i131l2.1222661.1225298..1225456...1.1..0.111.1418.13j3......0....1..gws-wiz.....10..0i71j35i362i39j0i67j0i131i20i263j0i20i263.ZsX9dPw9eng&ved=0ahUKEwjJg7_zg-LlAhXTN8AKHe8rAloQ4dUDCAs&uact=5#sie=m;/g/11fls3cdts;2;/m/02_tc;dt;fp;1;;) over Bournemouth, defender DeAndre Yedlin has been at the centre of deserved praise.**

The USA international scored the [equalising goal with a fantastic diving header](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ckAZUern-U&feature=onebox) which erupted St. James’ Park on an excellent afternoon, with Steve Bruce’s side [winning consecutive Premier League games](https://www.google.com/search?rlz=1C1DVJR_enGB846GB846&sxsrf=ACYBGNSCc-p6N-bGJdJAdtBXvchCp7eIyQ%3A1573470906340&ei=ukLJXcm-FNPvgAbv14jQBQ&q=newcastle+united&oq=newcastle+united&gs_l=psy-ab.3..35i39i70i253j35i39j0i131i67j0i131l4j0j0i131l2.1222661.1225298..1225456...1.1..0.111.1418.13j3......0....1..gws-wiz.....10..0i71j35i362i39j0i67j0i131i20i263j0i20i263.ZsX9dPw9eng&ved=0ahUKEwjJg7_zg-LlAhXTN8AKHe8rAloQ4dUDCAs&uact=5#sie=t;/m/0fvly;2;/m/02_tc;mt;fp;1;;) for the first time this season.

Despite the Magpies’ glaring issues going forward, they’ve managed to [bag five goals in two games](https://www.google.com/search?rlz=1C1DVJR_enGB846GB846&sxsrf=ACYBGNSCc-p6N-bGJdJAdtBXvchCp7eIyQ%3A1573470906340&ei=ukLJXcm-FNPvgAbv14jQBQ&q=newcastle+united&oq=newcastle+united&gs_l=psy-ab.3..35i39i70i253j35i39j0i131i67j0i131l4j0j0i131l2.1222661.1225298..1225456...1.1..0.111.1418.13j3......0....1..gws-wiz.....10..0i71j35i362i39j0i67j0i131i20i263j0i20i263.ZsX9dPw9eng&ved=0ahUKEwjJg7_zg-LlAhXTN8AKHe8rAloQ4dUDCAs&uact=5#sie=t;/m/0fvly;2;/m/02_tc;mt;fp;1;;), with defenders scoring the lion’s share.

While this may be a sign that actual attackers aren’t providing much of a goal threat, the likes of [Joelinton](https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/standing-ovation-joelinton-var-ruins-17231414) and [Allan Saint-Maximin](https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/standing-ovation-joelinton-var-ruins-17231414) have been impressing more and more each game – but supporters have reserved their praise for Yedlin – who put on a Man of the Match performance to drag Newcastle over the line.

The 26-year-old has [only made six appearances this season](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/126958/History/DeAndre-Yedlin), but supporters will be hoping for plenty more after his recent display, taking to Twitter and rightfully praising the former Sunderland defender.
