**Loads of Newcastle United fans have hailed a tweet about the prospective takeover at St. James’ Park from former goalkeeper [Shay Given](https://twitter.com/No1shaygiven/status/1260905715960631297).**

The 44-year old shared a post from [The Chronicle](https://twitter.com/ChronicleNUFC/status/1260903432510201856) on his official Twitter page with a caption of two emojis with praying hands, which delighted several members of the Toon faithful.

This was in response to an article from [ChronicleLive](https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/shay-given-hoping-mike-ashleys-18250161), which relayed comments made by Given on the proposed takeover in the North East.

As per [Sky Sports](https://www.skysports.com/football) (via ChronicleLive), the ex-Irish international said that it would be great for the Premier League if the deal were to go through, adding that if they have a strong team on the pitch in their home ground, it would be a very tough afternoon or night for the opposition.

Given also claimed that Magpies have had enough of Mike Ashley and admitted that it is exciting times for NUFC supporters.
