# Newcastle United: Fans love Allan Saint-Maximin’s dig at Sunderland

**After putting in a brilliant performance in [Newcastle United’s 3-2 victory at West Ham](https://www.google.com/search?rlz=1C1DVJR_enGB846GB846&sxsrf=ACYBGNRqVt3Nw-rtpqxjZ-m14QwvLScpsg%3A1572947986859&ei=EkjBXaqSNM-M8gKkq6KADQ&q=west+ham+2-3+newcastle&oq=west+ham+2-3+newcastle&gs_l=psy-ab.3..0j0i22i30l2.372433.380096..380258...6.1..0.88.2052.27......0....1..gws-wiz.....10..0i71j35i362i39j35i39j0i131j35i39i70i253j0i20i263j0i10.KnABt8OurXA&ved=0ahUKEwiq44bw59LlAhVPhlwKHaSVCNAQ4dUDCAs&uact=5#sie=m;/g/11fls31p26;2;/m/02_tc;dt;fp;1;;), making Alan Shearer’s team of the week, Allan Saint-Maximin had a hilarious back and forth with a Sunderland fan on Twitter.**

The Magpies put on a glorious attacking performance as Steve Bruce’s side scored more than one goal in a game [for the first time this season](https://www.google.com/search?rlz=1C1DVJR_enGB846GB846&sxsrf=ACYBGNRRTFU4f2MTQbfy8zisNmh3zkrnBA%3A1572948368151&ei=kEnBXaz1CNOZgQajg6SACA&q=newcastle+united&oq=newcastle+united&gs_l=psy-ab.3..35i39i70i253j35i39j0l2j0i131j0l3j0i20i263j0.61280.64036..64132...1.0..0.94.1299.16......0....1..gws-wiz.....10..35i362i39j0i67j0i131i67.0ivmfCYUH98&ved=0ahUKEwis_e6l6dLlAhXTTMAKHaMBCYAQ4dUDCAs&uact=5#sie=t;/m/0fvly;2;/m/02_tc;mt;fp;1;;), prompting fans and pundits alike to take notice of Saint-Maximin’s star contribution.

Although the French winger found himself [through on goal twice in the first half](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l4_pyz-0ukc&feature=onebox), both times failing to capitalise, he was instrumental to Newcastle’s threat going forward – endearing himself to the St. James’ Park faithful even further.

Now, after a hilarious back and forth [with a Sunderland fan on Twitter](https://twitter.com/asaintmaximin/status/1191416903673229312) over his placement in Shearer’s Team of the Week, resulting in the rival supporter making his profile private, Magpies supporters have praised the 22-year-old for his witty response.

The France U21 international tweeted in reply:

> I wish I could score my first goal against your club but… [pic.twitter.com/yQp7ZY1ZJP](https://t.co/yQp7ZY1ZJP)

As a result, the fanbase were in raptures, with their love for Saint-Maximin reaching seismic proportions.

Here’s how they reacted to his social media antics:
