# Newcastle United: Fans mock Joelinton while discussing links with Karl Toko Ekambi

**Responding to a scout report [from the Chronicle](https://twitter.com/chroniclenufc/status/1216790011346972673?s=21), Newcastle United supporters have been in full discussion over the latest link with prolific forward Karl Toko Ekambi – going on to describe how anyone could be better than Joelinton at this point in time.**

Ekambi, according to the Chronicle’s scout file [on Twitter](https://twitter.com/chroniclenufc/status/1216790011346972673?s=21), has scored [24 goals](https://twitter.com/chroniclenufc/status/1216790011346972673?s=21) for La Liga club Villarreal since he arrived at the club back in [June 2018](https://www.espn.co.uk/football/soccer-transfers/story/3519775/villarreal-complete-toko-ekambi-signing) – prompting speculation (per [Le10 Sport](https://le10sport.com/football/mercato/exclu-mercato-lol-degaine-14-meur-pour-toko-ekambi-deux-clubs-anglais-debarquent-487749)) that the Magpies could be looking to offer him a dream Premier League move.

Steve Bruce’s side have faced a goalscoring conundrum up front this campaign, with out and out strikers Joelinton and Andy Carroll finding the net [just once](https://www.fctables.com/joelinton-vs-andy_carroll-257671-208007/) between them. Now, with this scout report emerging on social media, fans have flocked to roast Joelinton and insist that they are up for any alternative to the [£40 million](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/49039959) ‘[useless flop](https://twitter.com/bdecry9/status/1216790636050907136?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw)‘ – potentially indicating an interest in Ekambi to replace the Brazilian up front.

While Joelinton and Andy Carroll both possess a [far superior](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/201755/Show/Joelinton) aerial duel success rate per game ([WhoScored.com](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/23383/Show/Andy-Carroll)), the Cameroonian forward has averaged [more shots](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/236504/Show/Karl-Toko-Ekambi) in that time – perhaps highlighting a sharper attacking threat.

Here’s how they responded to the rumour on Twitter.
