# Newcastle United: Fans offer tactical ideas following Allan Saint-Maximin injury update

**Following the news that Newcastle United favourite Allan Saint-Maximin will be out for the [next month with a hamstring injury](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11678/11883940/allan-saint-maximin-newcastle-winger-ruled-out-for-a-month-with-hamstring-injury), some supporters have offered their tactical verdict for how Steve Bruce should proceed with his line-ups over December.**

Saint-Maximin, who has [shone since his move](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2019/12/11/newcastle-winger-allan-saint-maximin-new-year-hamstring-tear/) to the Premier League in the summer, will be a huge miss for the Magpies considering the amount of [flair and pace](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2019/12/02/allan-saint-maximin-exciting-must-add-end-product-avoid-newcastle/) he has provided on the left-wing – prompting supporters to bring up new names or suggest a change in formation to suit the team.

Among those names that supporters think could do the job in place of Saint-Maximin, Christian Atsu and Yoshinori Muto have been mentioned as potential alternatives – with both of them having to endure a [place on the fringes](https://www.geordiebootboys.com/opinion/fans-call-for-yoshinori-muto-to-be-given-premier-league-chance/) of this Newcastle side so far this campaign.

Some supporters are also keen on a new 3-5-2 formation, with Joelinton and Andy Carroll in the forward roles along with Matty Longstaff being brought back into midfield as an extra man.

Here’s how they came to numerous verdicts on Twitter.

> Christian Atsu masterclass incoming

> It’s time to play Joelinton on the left. Carroll up top, Miggy on the right. Let’s go.

> Fancy 3-5-2 with Shelvey, Hayden and Longstaff in midfield, Joe/Carroll/Gayle upfront. May work well and will allow Miggy to come on later to give some pace

> [@asaintmaximin](https://twitter.com/asaintmaximin?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw) will be a huge miss for [@NUFC](https://twitter.com/NUFC?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw) but WE ARE NOT A ONE MAN TEAM! Get well soon Alain but step up Muto Atsu Joelinton Gayle Matty and co and enjoy it!
