# Newcastle United: Fans react as Matty Longstaff attracts interest from ‘ambitious European club’

**Lots of Newcastle United fans have reacted in anger to rumours that Matty Longstaff could be on his way out of the club.**

The [Chronicle](https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/matty-longstaffs-newcastle-future-now-17839822) revealed that an ‘ambitious European club’ have put an offer on the table for the highly-rated teenager. The youngster has yet to receive a counter-offer from the Magpies, which could be a concern for manager Steve Bruce, who previously stated that he wants the 19-year-old to [stay on Tyneside](https://www.caughtoffside.com/2020/03/01/newcastle-risk-losing-highly-rated-star-after-offer-from-ambitious-european-club/).

With [two](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/matthew-longstaff/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/484387) goals from seven Premier League games during the current campaign, Longstaff has [impressed](https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/sean-matty-longstaff-newcastle-united-17042077) during his first season in the top flight and scored the [winning goal](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/49868087) to topple Manchester United earlier in the season. Possessing so much [potential](https://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2020/03/01/newcastle-ace-matty-longstaff-could-leave-club-for-400k-after-re/), supporters were not impressed with the latest report and made their feelings clear on social media. One fan described the club as a “complete shambles from top to bottom”.

> The club will be playing on the fact he’s a Geordie and will be expecting him to sign any contract they give him, this is NUFC under Ashley a complete shambles from top to bottom!![#ASHLEYOUT](https://twitter.com/hashtag/ASHLEYOUT?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw)

> 🤦‍♂️ It would be just like [#nufc](https://twitter.com/hashtag/nufc?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw) to lose on their most promising talents for years to someone like a Dortmund & Matty goes on to become a player so good we’d never be able to sign him! This regime is rotten to the core & sooner we’re rid the better!

> He will never develop his talent under Bruce or this regime, if he has any ambition he’ll go elsewhere.

> Good luck to the lad, [#nufc](https://twitter.com/hashtag/nufc?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw) is all but dead – the fans who keep showing up are supporting Ashley kill my football club

> I would much rather see a geordie lad with potential went away and got the proper developing and coaching needed to become a good player, than stay and stagnate in this pit of lies, deceit, misery and mediocrity.
