# Newcastle United: Fans relive Hatem Ben Arfa’s magical strike against Fulham from 2013

**Back at the dawn of the 2013/14 season, Newcastle United’s Hatem Ben Arfa [logged an early contender for one of the goals of the season](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zrDHkY6nh_s) at St. James’ Park – cutting inside with plenty of feints before rifling a beautiful shot into the top corner.**

The French winger [was a polarising figure](https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/former-newcastle-star-hatem-ben-15101593) on Tyneside at times, where he would shine in moments of incomparable quality before his off-field antics and overall attitude would somewhat taint his reputation.

Despite his on-and-off relationship with the club as a whole, Ben Arfa has firmly cemented himself in the hearts of some Geordie supporters due to his dazzling displays and injection of flair.

Allan Saint-Maximin looks to be taking the mantle from Ben Arfa in terms of a player out wide that can add much-needed creativity, but the former PSG midfielder’s rocket back in 2013 has made supporters [nostalgic on Twitter](https://twitter.com/premierleague/status/1199623216991485953?s=21).

Here’s how they fondly remembered the goal:
