# Newcastle United: Fans reminisce over Nolberto Solano masterclass at Anfield

**After Nolberto Solano [left Newcastle United in 2007](https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/nobby-solano-reflects-sad-end-10045907) as part of the Sam Allardyce clean out, supporters never really got a chance to take in just how class he was for the Magpies – with numerous fans taking that opportunity now after being reminded of a masterclass at Anfield.**

Allan Saint-Maximin’s [hamstring injury](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11678/11883940/allan-saint-maximin-newcastle-winger-ruled-out-for-a-month-with-hamstring-injury) has had the Newcastle fanbase pondering who they should play on the left-hand side in place of the Frenchman, with some suggesting a tactical [switch around](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league/newcastle-united/newcastle-united-fans-want-steve-bruce-to-play-joelinton-out-wide/), while one supporter simply floated the idea of inserting someone like[Christian Atsu to fill the void](https://twitter.com/NUFCgallowgate/status/1205428948953436160) – but it’s likely all of them wish they could turn back the clock and put Solano there.

The Peruvian established himself as a real favourite at St. James’ Park, partially due to his affinity with scoring [iconic long-range efforts](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gQLSz3whxLY) – with the former Aston Villa man going on to make 295 appearances in a black and white jersey, scoring 48 goals and assisting 11 others, [as per Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/nolberto-solano/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/3460).

As a result, supporters have flocked to hail the former player on Twitter due to a clip re-emerging of him putting on a showcase away to Liverpool – here’s what they had to say.
