# Newcastle United: Fans slam Miguel Almiron versus Crystal Palace

**Loads of Newcastle United fans have been slamming Miguel Almiron for his performance against Crystal Palace in the Premier League.**

The Paraguay international was subbed off for Matt Ritchie in the 67th minute on Friday night having not had much of an impact in the game at all.

\[freshpress-poll id=”301231″\]

He did not manage to record a single shot, dribble, key pass or accurate cross in the match, earning him a rating of 6.6 on [Sofascore](https://www.sofascore.com/crystal-palace-newcastle-united/hO), the second lowest out of anyone on Steve Bruce’s team – only Jeff Hendrick was [worse](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/newcastle-united-news/newcastle-united-fans-blast-jeff-hendrick-versus-crystal-palace/).

Almiron has not exactly been pulling up trees so far in the top flight for the St. James’ Park faithful in the 2020/21 term, scoring no goals and making just one assist in his nine appearances ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/miguel-almiron/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/272999/plus/0?saison=2020&verein=&liga=&wettbewerb=GB1&pos=&trainer_id=)).

These rather poor performances could have been fuelled by [talk](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/newcastle-united-transfer-rumours/newcastle-united-miguel-almiron-certain-to-leave-after-agent-talk/) from his agent that he could leave the Tyneside club, and so maybe he has not been putting enough effort into playing well for the Magpies.

### Newcastle fan reaction to Almiron performance

These members of the Toon Army slammed the display of Almiron on Twitter, with one Magpies supporter even claiming that the 26-year old was a ‘headless chicken’:

> I thought Almiron was absolutely useless today as well, sprinting around like a headless chicken giving the ball away making the wrong decisions. Bruce was right to take him off [#NUFC](https://twitter.com/hashtag/NUFC?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw)

> Almiron was disappointing. We all want him to do well so much but he wasn’t at his best. Ritchie looked a threat when he came on to be fair.\
> I’m surprised Murphy didnt get on for Hendrick, he was warming up for ages second half.

> Almiron average at best, Hendrick anonymous, Shelvey ok but very poor/lazy when we’re not in possession (where Hayden would be better) we benefitted from Shelvey calmness on the ball, much better defensively without Lascelles!

> Really thought Almiron would kick on once he started scoring but he seems to have reverted back to his early Magpie career.

> I agree with that, but no one talks him up all the time but for some reason Almiron can do no wrong however he doesn’t do a lot right
