# Newcastle United: Fans slam Lee Mason after Everton loss

**Responding [to a clip](https://twitter.com/madamshelley/status/1210948070847979521?s=21) that shows an Everton player heading the ball over before winning a corner, many Newcastle United fans have protested against official Lee Mason over his contribution to their team’s second loss in a row.**

The Magpies fell[2-1 at home to a rejuvenated Everton](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vk5kLUBR2nc&feature=onebox) over the weekend, sealing their second consecutive Premier League defeat after they were also on the wrong end of a [4-1 trouncing](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5tnckGjvVsE&feature=onebox) at Old Trafford on Boxing Day – leading to Steve Bruce’s side’s two-game run of defeats for the first time since the very start of the season.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin gave the away side a crucial advantage when he prodded home a ricocheted free-kick from close range before centre-back Fabian Schar equalised for the hosts with a cool finish.

Not long afterwards, Everton were in the ascendancy again, picking out Calvert-Lewin to regain the lead after dispossessing Andy Carroll on the halfway line.

This is how it stayed, resulting in supporters blasting referee Mason – here’s what they had to say on Twitter.
