# Newcastle United: Fans were calling for one change last night as Steve Bruce watched on

**Newcastle United’s mini-resurgence under Steve Bruce came to an end last night during a miserable Monday night trip down to the Midlands to take on Aston Villa.**

Conor Hourihane and Anwar El-Ghazi managed to put their former boss to the sword at Villa Park and Bruce was [booed](https://twitter.com/ChronicleNUFC/status/1199039109551083521) as he made his way into the stadium prior to the game.

Well, despite some good recent results for the former Manchester United defender in the Magpies dugout of late, some the reaction online during the loss last night did suggest he’s yet to fully win everyone over. Indeed, Chronicle journalist Lee Ryder tweeted during the game that he and his backroom staff were in deep discussion over a change while the visitors were 2-0 down already, leading to a number of supporters demanding one.

As you can imagine however, the change called for was largely one in the management system itself…

With that in mind, here’s a closer look at some of the reaction.
