# Newcastle United: Fans would swap Joelinton for Mitrovic if given the opportunity

**Given Joelinton’s lack of finesse so far this season in front of goal, scoring [just once all campaign](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/201755/History/Joelinton) in the away win at Tottenham back in August, some Newcastle United supporters want to see the return of a familiar face to St. James’ Park.**

Aleksandar Mitrovic, who [bagged 13 goals and ten assists in 56 appearances](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/115279/History/Aleksandar-Mitrovic) over the course of two seasons on Tyneside, is currently on fire for Fulham in the Championship – surpassing his entire total for Newcastle in just half a campaign [with 15 strikes](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/115279/History/Aleksandar-Mitrovic).

In comparison, Joelinton has failed to reach those heights at any stage in his career so far – with his best season in top-flight football coming last year for Hoffenheim when he [scored seven goals and assisted five others](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/115279/History/Aleksandar-Mitrovic) in the Bundesliga.

Now, judging by a recent debate on Twitter, it seems most Newcastle supporters would take the Serbian hitman back in a heartbeat in a straight swap with their record signing – here’s what they had to say.

> Hes miles better than joelinton. It isnt even close that one

> Mitrobic would have been perfect for this system.

> I’d have Mitro back especially with his current form even though it is the championship

> He would have kept him and he would be banging them in and we’d be top 5. 👊👊👊

> Further unpopular opinion: buying Mitrovic back would get a lot of fans back on side.
>
> You just need to overlook the fact that it would never happen and they won’t give up on Joelinton.

> We should bring him back home, gotta be better than Joelinton
