# Newcastle United: Lee Ryder slams Emil Krafth display

**Lee Ryder has slammed the display of Emil Krafth for Newcastle United in their 1-1 home draw with Aston Villa in the Premier League on Friday night.**

Jamaal Lascelles spared the blushes of Steve Bruce at St. James’ Park with a very late header in added time as the Tyneside club rescued a point in the North East, after going behind to a rather unfortunate Ciaran Clark own goal.

While there were some decent performances for the Magpies on the night, Krafth’s flattered to deceive.

Writing in his latest ratings piece for [The Chronicle](https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/lack-urgency-magpies-newcastle-united-20121862), Ryder claimed that the Sweden international was ‘not effective’ and added that it was ‘no surprise to see him replaced’, giving him a measly 6/10 overall rating, the joint-second lowest out of any of the Toon players to have started the game.

### Krafth was ineffective for Newcastle

As Ryder points out, Krafth was largely ineffective for NUFC, with very little attacking intent from right-back as he failed to record a single dribble, key pass or accurate cross ([Sofascore](https://www.sofascore.com/aston-villa-newcastle-united/OP)).

The 26-year-old also lost out on six of his duels and lost possession of the ball no fewer than on 17 separate occasions in the match, the fourth-most out of any of his teammates ([Sofascore](https://www.sofascore.com/aston-villa-newcastle-united/OP)).

Nonetheless, with Javier Manquillo making a return from injury, Krafth will no doubt have to put in much better displays if he is to keep his starting place in the side.
