# Newcastle United: Matty Longstaff still intends to sign for Udinese

**Newcastle United ace Matty Longstaff still intends to sign for Udinese in the upcoming summer transfer window, according to the [Daily Mirror](https://www.mirror.co.uk/all-about/newcastle-united-fc) (via [NUFC 360](https://twitter.com/NUFC360/status/1277272219824140293)).**

As per the outlet, the central midfield player is destined for a move to the Italian outfit as things currently stand at the moment, as the Tyneside club have reportedly made their final offer to the player in a last-ditch attempt to sign him up.

Longstaff is set to be out of contract in the North East after the 2019/20 season ends and, being a home grown talent and having broke through into the first team in this campaign, Steve Bruce amongst other members of the Toon faithful seem desperate to keep him.

The 20-year old has made 13 senior appearances in all competitions so far in this term, scoring a rather handy three goals, according to [Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/matthew-longstaff/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/484387/plus/0?saison=2019&verein=&liga=&wettbewerb=&pos=&trainer_id=).

He also came off of the bench in the 2-0 home defeat against Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City side in the quarter-final of the FA Cup, as City will now face Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal at Wembley Stadium in the semi-final, with Frank Lampard’s Chelsea and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Manchester United facing off in the other for a place in the final.

This may not be his last appearance in the famous black and white stripes as the Englishman is due to play out the [rest of the season](https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/newcastle-deals-longstaff-extension/1897gqv7a94cw17f2qx7p4xfm1#:~:text=Andy%20Carroll%20and%20Javier%20Manquillo%20have%20signed%20new%20deals%20with,the%20rest%20of%20the%20campaign.) at NUFC, but it could indeed be one of his last ever showings at St. James’ Park given his proposed move to Italy.

Fans would surely want to give him a proper send off if he does eventually make the move, but Longstaff may not even get that if supporters are still no longer allowed to enter their respective stadiums.
