**Newcastle United star Miguel Almiron has been hailed for a ‘magnificent’ display by [Marca](https://www.marca.com/en/football/international-football/2020/11/13/5fae6999268e3e2a4c8b45ef.html), as he won Paraguay a penalty versus Argentina in a FIFA World Cup qualifying game.**

The spot kick was converted by Angel Romero, with Nicolas Gonzalez equalising and Lionel Messi having a goal ruled out by VAR for a foul in the build-up later on.

Nonetheless, Almiron was instrumental in his country gaining a point from the clash, which will surely please Newcastle fans when he returns to St. James’ Park after the international break.

### Almiron was magnificent

Indeed, Almiron was magnificent in general for Paraguay, as he won a very impressive seven duels and made no fewer than six recoveries in the game ([Fotmob](https://www.fotmob.com/livescores/3238988/lineup/argentina-vs-paraguay?date=20201113)), showing off his ever-impressive work rate.

The attacking midfielder player was fouled three times, showing that he was a menace all match, and also made a key pass and had a 100% success rate in dribbles and tackles, highlighting his influence on his team.

### Almiron needs to replicate this display for Newcastle

Indeed, the challenge for Almiron will be to now replicate these kinds of influential displays at club level.

The [£14.4m-valued](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/miguel-almiron/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/272999/plus/0?saison=2020&verein=&liga=&wettbewerb=&pos=&trainer_id=) star has not exactly had the best of starts to the 2020/21 term in the North East, scoring just one goal in ten appearances in all competitions, although he has gotten himself three assists ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/miguel-almiron/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/272999/plus/0?saison=2020&verein=&liga=&wettbewerb=&pos=&trainer_id=)).

Perhaps he needs to knuckle himself down to one position, having played in [four](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/miguel-almiron/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/272999/plus/0?saison=2020&verein=&liga=&wettbewerb=&pos=&trainer_id=) different roles for Steve Bruce’s team so far this season.

Nonetheless, it was a magnificent performance that he put in for Paraguay and supporters of the Tyneside club will now be hoping that he can replicate his form for the Magpies.
