The Daily Mail journalist Craig Hope has revealed a big injury boost for Newcastle United before they play AFC Bournemouth at home in the Premier League.

The Lowdown: Team news

Speaking to the media in his pre-game press conference ahead of the game, Eddie Howe gave some key injury updates on some of his players, with Karl Darlow facing up to eight weeks out with an ankle problem and Jono Shelvey making good progress in his recovery.

However, he was tight-lipped on the fitness of Allan Saint-Maximin, Callum Wilson and Bruno Guimaraes.

The Latest: Bruno 'likely to return'

Taking to Twitter, Hope later revealed that although both Saint-Maximin and Wilson are expected to miss out, Bruno is 'likely to return' for the clash against the Cherries:

"Expectation is that ASM & Wilson miss out, but Bruno likely to return."

The Verdict: Big boost

Having Bruno back in the team is no doubt a big boost for Howe and his squad.

The central midfielder currently ranks as their sixth-best performer in the top flight so far this season, and has recorded more tackles and through balls per game than any of his teammates (WhoScored).

Nonetheless, with no win in the division since the opening 2-0 victory against Nottingham Forest at St. James' Park, Howe will be desperate to get back to winning ways in front of their home supporters, and Bruno certainly makes their team stronger.
