Newcastle United: Keith Downie shares Allan Saint-Maximin and Joelinton boost

Newcastle United: Keith Downie shares Allan Saint-Maximin and Joelinton boost -Newcastle United News

North East reporter for Sky Sports Keith Downie has shared a double Team News boost for Newcastle United ahead of their game at home to Brentford.

The Lowdown: Takeover anniversary game

The match at St. James’ Park will commemorate the one-year anniversary of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) consortium’s takeover of the North East club.

Since that day, Steve Bruce has been replaced by Eddie Howe and the Tynesiders have gone from sweating about potential relegation to seventh place in the Premier League table and dreaming of European football.

The Latest: Saint-Maximin and Joelinton return

Taking to Twitter on Friday morning, Downie has shared that both Allan Saint-Maximin and Joelinton are now back and available for Eddie Howe’s side for their clash against the Bees, after periods out through injury:

“Good news for Eddie Howe & Newcastle fans tomorrow on the injury front: Allan Saint-Maximin & Joelinton are back & available for the visit of Brentford.”

The Verdict: Big boost

It is certainly a big boost for the Magpies to have two of their key players returning to the side.

Saint-Maximin and Joelinton are currently their two best-performing players in the top flight, having racked up a goal, three assists and two man-of-the-match awards between them so far this season (WhoScored).

Saint-Maximin has not missed a game for Howe in the league this term when he has been available, showing how much faith the manager has in him, while Joelinton returned to the bench in the 4-1 win away at Fulham last time out, and he too has been a mainstay in the team.

Both players strengthen the squad hugely ahead of the Bees’ visit, and will give them a much bigger chance of getting all three points.
