The Daily Telegraph journalist Luke Edwards has revealed that Newcastle United are 'pushing hard' to sign Conor Gallagher after landing Alexander Isak.

The Lowdown: Isak arrival

Taking to Twitter on Thursday afternoon, Sky Sports journalist and North East reporter Keith Downie shared that Isak completed his medical at St. James' Park and is now finalising his club-record move from La Liga side Real Sociedad.

His arrival means that the Tynesiders can now focus on getting other targets in through the door, with attacking midfield and right wing seemingly the areas most in need of improvement.

The Latest: Gallagher too?

As per Edwards, Eddie Howe's team are also 'pushing hard' to sign Gallagher on loan from Chelsea, after signing Isak:

"Told #nufc pushing hard for Gallagher on loan from Chelsea after landing Isak from Real Sociedad."

The Verdict: Get it done

Signing Gallagher as well as Isak would certainly be the icing on the cake for the Magpies.

Hailed as 'extraordinary and 'outstanding‘ by Thomas Tuchel after his successful loan spell at Crystal Palace last season, he deservedly won Palace’s Player of the Season (POTS) award, and managed to break into the England squad under Gareth Southgate.

Tallying an impressive eight goals and five assists in total over all competitions for the Eagles from midfield (Transfermarkt), the 22-year-old would offer the Toon an added threat from the middle of the park, and he is certainly a player that Isak would be licking his lips to play ahead of with his creative output.
