Sky Sports presenter Pete Graves has revealed that Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Armando Broja have been 'discussed' as potential new signings for Newcastle United.

The Lowdown: Ekitike alternative?

The Magpies have reportedly been in talks to try and sign Ekitike all summer, but Reims manager Oscar Garcia has recently claimed that the youngster would like to stay with the Ligue 1 club.

Therefore, the Tynesiders may have to look at alternative targets to strengthen their centre-forward ranks, with just a month remaining until the new Premier League season starts.

The Latest: Calvert-Lewin and Broja 'discussed'

Taking to Twitter, Graves has revealed that both Calvert-Lewin and Broja have been 'discussed' as possible new arrivals for Newcastle, along with Bayer Leverkusen winger Moussa Diaby.

The Sky Sports presenter tweeted, with credit given to his colleagues Dharmesh Sheth and Keith Downie: "Moussa Diaby IS on #nufc radar. That's as far as things are at the moment. They have an extensive list of attacking targets. Still no movement on Ekitike which remains 'dormant' currently. Broja and Calvert-Lewin also discussed W/ @skysports_sheth @SkySports_Keith."

The Verdict: Exciting

It is certainly exciting for Newcastle to be linked with two quality Premier League strikers in Calvert-Lewin and Broja.

The former, who was dubbed "one of the best" in his position by Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, saw his 2021/22 season scuppered by injury, but he boasts two double-figure hauls in terms of goals in the preceding two campaigns.

On the other hand, Broja had his first full season playing regularly in the top flight last term, scoring dangerous' player by Saints manager Ralph Hasenhuttl, while Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp has admired his 'incredible pace and strength'.

Nonetheless, signing either forward would be a very good option for Eddie Howe alongside Callum Wilson and Chris Wood.
