The Daily Mail journalist Craig Hope has revealed some promising injury news for Newcastle United on Bruno Guimaraes.

The Lowdown: Brazil injury

As per Globo Esporte, Bruno 'complained of pain' during training with the Brazil squad after suffering a muscular problem in his left thigh, and he will miss their friendly against Ghana.

He had previously suffered from a muscle injury for the Magpies before joining up for international duty, so there are fears that there could be a recurrence of that problem.

Nonetheless, the central midfielder is being rested and the Magpies will be expecting his national side to continue with extreme caution.

The Latest: 'Not serious'

Taking to Twitter, Hope has given an update on Bruno's injury, revealing that it is 'only small' and 'not serious', adding that he has not yet been ruled out of Brazil's second fixture against Tunisia:

"I’m told Bruno’s thigh problem is only “small” and is not serious. Not yet ruled out of both Brazil fixtures."

The Verdict: Promising

It is certainly promising to hear that Bruno's injury is 'not serious', as the news of his thigh problem would have injected fear into the Toon Army.

He currently ranks as their seventh-best performer in the Premier League so far this term, and has recorded more tackles and through balls per match than any of his teammates (WhoScored).

Eddie Howe and his team will perhaps be hoping that he can get some minutes for Brazil and get some sharpness back before they take on Fulham in the top flight after the international break.
