Jamaal Lascelles is reportedly 'set to leave' Newcastle United this summer, with both Wolves and Nottingham Forest 'expected to be interested'.

The Lowdown: January offers welcomed

Newcastle were reportedly willing to entertain offers of up to £10m for Lascelles in January.

His contract at St. James' Park is up in 2024, meaning that the North East club may want to cash in on him this year at the risk of losing him on a free transfer next summer.

The Latest: 'Set to leave'

Taking to Twitter, The Northern Echo journalist Scott Wilson says that Lascelles is 'set to leave' Tyneside this summer, with Forest and Wolves 'expected to be interested' in his signature:

"Jamaal Lascelles set to leave #NUFC in the summer - with Nottingham Forest and Wolves both expected to be interested in the centre-half..."

The Verdict: Time to go

Unfortunately for Lascelles, with the arrival of Sven Botman in the summer, it is time for him to leave the Magpies.

Hailed as having an 'exemplary' work-rate and training standards by Eddie Howe, the captain has been an exceptional servant over the years, playing in 222 games in total over all competitions since the 2015/16 season, and was part of the team that won promotion back up to the Premier League from the Championship in the 2016/17 term.

However, he has been limited to just eight appearances so far this campaign, and only one start in the top flight.

Given his contract situation and the fact that he is 29, the Toon will not have a better chance to cash in on him than this summer.
