Newcastle United are reportedly battling with Leeds United to sign Juventus striker Moise Kean.

The Lowdown: Everton flop

It is safe to say that the Italy international was a flop during his time in English football, scoring just four goals in 39 games for Everton across three seasons at Goodison Park (Transfermarkt).

He is currently on loan at Juventus from the Merseyside club, but the Bianconeri have an obligation to purchase the striker once that loan spell expires.

The Latest: Two-way fight

As per Calciomercato, Newcastle are battling it out with Premier League rivals Leeds to sign Kean, who does not seem to be part of Juve's long-term plans.

It is believed that the Old Lady would be willing to let him go for a fee of around €20m (£17m).

The Verdict: Avoid

At 22 years of age, Kean has shown a lot of promise in his career, especially during a successful loan spell at Paris Saint-Germain, where his then-manager and now Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel dubbed him 'fearless' and 'courageous'.

The Italian scored same agent as Erling Haaland - who came to the Premier League to join Manchester City this summer - so this is a deal to keep an eye on as the transfer window progresses.

However, Kean's record in the Premier League suggests that he is not suited to the English game, so perhaps this is a potential transfer that Newcastle should avoid.
