Newcastle United are reportedly now considering making an offer for RC Strasbourg striker Ludovic Ajorque.

The Lowdown: Move plotted

It was reported earlier this week that the St. James' Park outfit were plotting a move for Ajorque, with Strasbourg giving the green light for his sale amidst interest from Tyneside, Leicester and Crystal Palace.

Now, it looks as if the North East club have taken the first steps ahead of the competition in trying to secure his signature.

The Latest: Talks held

As per French outlet But! Football Club, discussions have now been launched between both clubs over Ajorque, and the Tynesiders are considering making an official offer.

Strasbourg have dropped their asking price down from €15m (£12.6m) to €10m (£8.4m), but the Foxes have also been alerted to his situation.

The Verdict: Sign

Given that he is currently rated at £14.4m by Transfermarkt, signing Ajorque for as little as £8.4m could turn out to be a bargain.

Hailed as a ‘beast’ by journalist Alessandro Schiavone, the six-foot-five forward managed an impressive 12 goals and eight assists in Ligue 1 last season (Transfermarkt), and at 28 years of age, is bang in his prime.

He has shown that he can perform consistently in a major league, notching up double figures in total goals and assists in each of the last four campaigns (Transfermarkt), and would give Eddie Howe's side a different dimension in attack alongside Callum Wilson.
