The Daily Mail's Craig Hope has now shared an injury boost for Newcastle United involving Alexander Isak.

The Lowdown: Muscle injury

Isak has been suffering from a muscle injury that has kept him out of the St. James' Park outfit's last two games in the Premier League.

Eddie Howe said before the weekend's 5-1 win at home to Brentford that he is hopeful that the Sweden international will return soon, although he admitted that the medical team are being 'cautious' with him.

The Latest: On the bench?

Taking to Twitter, Hope has shared that Isak now has 'a chance' of making the bench for their trip to Manchester United this weekend after his injury layoff:

"Sounds like Alexander Isak has a chance of making bench at Man Utd on Sunday after thigh layoff."

The Verdict: Big boost

It will certainly be a big boost for the North East club if Isak can even just make the bench at Old Trafford.

With two goals in his previous three matches in the top flight, the new signing has adapted to English football quickly, and will be eager to get on the scoresheet once against a 'big six' club, having already netted against Liverpool at Anfield.

Nonetheless, a win would actually take the Magpies above the Red Devils in the table, and potentially as high as fourth place.

If they are going to have the best chance of getting the result they want, then they will need some firepower off of the bench, and Isak could be the perfect super-sub for Howe.
