As it turns 11 years to the day Sir Bobby Robson passed away, Newcastle are paying tribute to the Toon legend.
The Magpies have posted a photo of the former Newcastle manager and lifelong fan on their official Instagram to honour his name on the anniversary of his death.
Are the Premier League to blame for the Newcastle takeover collapse?
Whilst fans are paying respect to his memory, a lot are claiming he would be embarrassed of the state the club is currently in. Many Toon supporters are slamming the situation Mike Ashley has currently dug the team into, particularly after reports announced the takeover involving Amanda Staveley would not be going ahead.
Robson last managed the Tyneside club in 2004 and since his departure, the Magpies have yo-yoed between the Premier League and the Championship.
Newcastle finished 13th in the league table this season, in the exact same position they finished last campaign, but with one point less.
With Staveley pulling out of the proposed £300million takeover, Ashley remains in charge of the club and will be back to the drawing board and looking for a new buyer. Unless a deal is made this transfer window, it’s likely Newcastle will endure a quiet summer and will return to improve on their disappointing finish next season.
