Newcastle United rounded off their 2019/20 Premier League campaign with a disappointing 3-1 loss at home.
The Toon played host to champions Liverpool on Sunday, who proved too hot to handle on the last day of the season.
It looked like it was going to go Newcastle’s way after Dwight Gayle scored inside the first minute, but in typical Liverpool fashion, the Reds bounced back to fire three past Martin Dubravka to snatch the spoils at St James’ Park.

Talks of a potential takeover continue to swirl and leave both fans and players alike in limbo. Rumours of moves for players like Philippe Coutinho have teased the fanbase and now it seems their patience has worn thin.
Many Magpies supporters have flooded the comments of Newcastle’s full-time graphic on Instagram from Sunday’s match, begging for the club to announce the takeover. A few supporters also called for Steve Bruce to be sacked.
Newcastle conceded a huge 58 goals this season, scoring just 38 of their own. Miguel Almiron finishes the term as his club’s top scorer, with eight league goals to his name (via BBC Sport).
Their loss to Jurgen Klopp’s side marked their 16th league defeat of the campaign, finishing with 44 points – 10 clear of the relegation zone (as per Sky Sports).
Although the team managed to stay up this time round, supporters are desperate to see something change. Could the tides turn for Newcastle if the takeover is completed?
