Newcastle United ace Federico Fernandez has answered a question asked by a fan of the Tyneside club regarding Barcelona star Lionel Messi.

As per his tweet, the central defender replied with "I will" to the question put forward to him on Twitter that was to "ask your mate if he likes bridges", referring indeed to his Argentina teammate Messi.

The city is relatively famous for having seven specific bridges, and so the supporter is perhaps asking tongue-in-cheek as to whether Messi would consider moving to the North East.

This comes after the Barcelona striker amazingly handed in a transfer request to the Catalan giants which may well see him leave Spain to play somewhere else for the first time in his career.

Messi has no doubt been an incredible servant to the beautiful game, scoring a rather staggering 634 goals and adding a further 285 assists in a total of 731 matches in all competitions over 16 consecutive seasons, according to Transfermarkt.

Captain of his country as well, the 33-year old has also scored 70 goals in 138 appearances for Argentina since his senior international debut under coach Jose Nestor Pekerman (via Transfermarkt).

With a ridiculous plethora of titles to his name while playing for Barcelona, including six Ballon D'Or trophies (per Transfermarkt), it would be strange to see Messi in any other kit.

Unfortunately for the Toon Army, it is very unlikely that the Argentine will be seen in the famous black-and-white stripes given his extortionate £95m-a-year salary and £630m release clause.

Still, the Magpies may take some joy out of the response from Fernandez to the question about his fellow countryman.
