Newcastle learn asking price for "fearless" target - Newcastle United

Newcastle United will be looking to add depth and quality to their already impressive squad in the summer, and with Champions League qualification on the horizon, it is an exciting time at the club.

The Magpies are just three fixtures away from confirming whether they have secured a spot in the elite European competition, and the focus for Eddie Howe will be on getting the job done.

Indeed, Newcastle have already qualified for Europe through their monumental Carabao Cup victory, but taking the step up to the Champions League would be the cherry on top of a fantastic campaign.

Behind the scenes, Paul Mitchell will be working hard on finding the right players to bring into the club to continue their success on the pitch and match their ambitions of consistently competing at the highest level.

Not only will Mitchell be responsible for bringing in new talent, but he will also need to offload and manage potential outgoings to ensure that Newcastle can have a healthy budget to work with to progress.

Sean Longstaff has been linked with a move away from the club this summer, with both Leeds and Everton taking an interest in the out-of-favour midfielder, but with European football on the cards, Newcastle will need to replace him to maintain depth.

According to Chronicle Live, Newcastle have learned the asking price for Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott and could be competing with other Premier League clubs for his signature this summer.

Elliott’s lack of game time under new manager Arne Slot has prompted speculation that he could be available for a move ahead of next season, and the Premier League champions have slapped a £40m price tag on him.

Should Newcastle sign Harvey Elliott?

One of the most desirable attributes that a new addition could bring to Tyneside this summer is a wealth of experience in Europe, especially if the club qualifies for Champions League football.

Despite struggling for minutes under Slot, Elliott amassed a lot of game time under Jurgen Klopp and was a regular contributor to their successes in recent years.

The attacking midfielder – once hailed “fearless” by Klopp – has tallied up 144 appearances, 14 goals and 19 assists in his time at Liverpool, which is an impressive amount of experience and output for a 22-year-old.

While Elliott has played mostly in an advanced midfield role for the Reds, he also has experience playing on the right wing which is a role Newcastle are intending to bolster this summer.

The England U21 star is a rare find in the market if he is available this summer, as he has a lot of experience playing at an elite level, experience of winning multiple trophies in a successful team and age on his side as he is only in the infancy of his career.

With that being said, there is no reason why Elliott couldn’t follow in the footsteps of his fellow Englishman at Newcastle like Anthony Gordon and become a hugely influential player in the future plans of the club.
