Newcastle will push for “unplayable” £60m target

Newcastle have been consistently linked with a move for Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo this summer, and it has been reported this week that they will continue to apply pressure.
The Magpies had already confirmed a spot in European football back in March when they won the Carabao Cup, but they are now keen to upgrade their experience from the Conference League to the Champions League.
With one game remaining, Newcastle’s chances of qualifying for the prestigious competition hang on their performance on Sunday against Everton at St James’ Park, and would be the cherry on top of one of their most successful seasons in decades if they pull it off.
The qualification to rub shoulders with Europe’s most elite clubs would open up a much wider door for recruitment in the upcoming transfer window, and would allow sporting director Paul Mitchell to take advantage of Premier League clubs who haven’t been able to progress at the same rate.
The North East giants have already been linked to several players ahead of the summer, with AFC Bournemouth defender Ilya Zabarnyi one of the most recent Premier League stand-outs to become an object of Newcastle’s desires, while Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi also remains a target.
However, it is not just the defensive presence that the club is looking to improve ahead of next season, as their attacking threat is crying out for valuable depth and stronger effort in goal contributions.
According to GIVEMESPORT, Newcastle will not give up on their pursuit of Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo, as Eddie Howe is a strong admirer of the talented forward.
The publication claims that the Newcastle boss has identified Mbeumo as a standout target to improve the final third performances, and there is a strong chance that they will enter negotiations as soon as possible.
It is further noted that it would take a significant offer worth £60m for the Bees to part ways with one of their most influential players, but Newcastle are keen to actively find a solution to strengthen the right side of their forward line.
Will Newcastle sign Bryan Mbeumo?
The Magpies broke the club’s transfer record when they signed Alexander Isak from Real Sociedad back in the summer of 2022, committing a fee of £63m.
So they will be under no illusions that they will be able to find a forward that can match their Swedish striker’s attacking prowess without spending heavily for the pleasure.
The Cameroonian sensation – hailed “unplayable” by Brentford boss Thomas Frank – is currently the fifth highest scoring player in the Premier League this season with 19 goals tallied up over 37 appearances, while only Mohamed Salah has served up more assists (18) amongst the top five top scorers (7).
Mbeumo’s killer finishing and ability to pick out the final pass to his scoring teammates make him an incredible asset that could have a huge influence on Newcastle’s ambitions of consistent success.
Indeed, Jacob Murphy has shown he is more than capable of being valuable to the team after developing an outstanding on-field relationship with Isak over the last few months, but at 30 years old is not the long-term future of the attacking threat.
With that being said, a move for Mbeumo would be an incredible start to Newcastle’s summer recruitment drive and would set up their front three for the long-term future of chasing further success.
