Newcastle United welcome the champions Liverpool to St. James’ Park on the final day of the 2019/20 Premier League season.
Indeed, the Tyneside club can expect a tough game against Jurgen Klopp’s team, especially as the Reds chase their record points total in the Premier League era.
What will be the result of Newcastle v Liverpool?
There is therefore no doubt that the Magpies will have to be at their very best if they are to get anything out of the game, which could see Steve Bruce make three alternations to his starting line-up from the team that started against Brighton, as well as a formation change:
The manager played a 3-5-2 formation in their last outing in the 0-0 draw away to the Seagulls but may resort to four at the back to match Liverpool and fit the potential return of two key central midfield players.
According to BBC, Isaac Hayden and Sean Longstaff may be available again after injury and Emil Krafth is to have a fitness test on an ankle problem. The former two have featured in 28 and 22 matches respectively in the Premier League this term and so may be given starts, with Longstaff playing a bit further forward.
A right-back by trade, Krafth may have to fill in in the centre of defence given the injuries to Jamaal Lascelles, Fabian Schar and Ciaran Clark.
Andy Carroll may also be called into the side to help hold up the ball in attack for when the Toon manage to find themselves in advanced positions.
It will likely be a tough ask for Newcastle to claim any points from the match, but their fans will be hoping to end the campaign on a high.
