Newcastle United are interested in signing Chelsea forward Christian Pulisic in the summer transfer window, according to a new transfer update.

The Lowdown: Pulisic out of favour at Chelsea

The American has done well for the Blues since joining from Borussia Dortmund in 2019 but hasn't always managed to be a regular in the team.

Pulisic appears to have drifted further out of Thomas Tuchel's plans this summer, with Raheem Sterling and Kai Havertz preferred in attack against Tottenham last weekend.

The 23-year-old could possibly look for a move elsewhere, in order to be a star man before he leads his country into a World Cup group including England and Wales, which is where Newcastle come into play.

The Latest: Newcastle linked with move

According to The Daily Mail, Pulisic is seen as a 'potential target' for the Magpies this summer, with Eddie Howe expected to bring in 'at least one further attacking option' before deadline day ends early next month.

The 21-goal USA international's current Chelsea deal runs out in the summer of 2024, meaning a sizeable bid would likely be required.

Amanda Staveley and Mehrdad Ghodoussi were spotted at Stamford Bridge this weekend, and they are reportedly on good terms with Blues co-owner Behdad Eghbali.

The Verdict: Great summer option

Newcastle are arguably in need of a genuinely top level attacking signing and Pulisic could be exactly that, having registered 44 goal contributions (25 goals and 19 assists) in 117 appearances for Chelsea.

He has been hailed as a 'world-class' talent by former Norwich City manager Daniel Farke, and his pace and trickery could light up St James' Park if given the chance to be the star man.

Away from Pulisic's quality as a player, he could also be a marketing dream, with the game growing hugely across the pond and the winger a big name in his homeland, even dubbed the 'LeBron James of soccer' on social media.
